    Transfer Student Onboarding Sessions

    The Transfer Student Center will provide 30-minute information sessions to transfer students as a first step in their onboarding at the University.

    Sessions will be offered on select Tuesdays at 2:00pm throughout the summer, starting May 13th through August 12.

    You may register for any upcoming session from the list below.

    Session Objectives

    The goal of these sessions will be:
    • Share services provided by the TSC (connection to campus resources, University Life (optional if over 30 credits), assistance with initial registration, resource re: academic policies at the University, advocate and guide regarding University’s structure and procedures)
    • Talk through steps of getting acclimated to campus:
      • Make decision to attend SHU, submit deposit
      • Ensure that student is able to access Pirate Net account
      • Have transcripts evaluated by the Registrar’s office, review transfer evaluation with advisor
      • Review requirements of desired degree plan, identifying a realistic graduation date based on credits
      • Register for courses with a TSC advisor (if under 30 credits) or the Academic Dept of declared major (if over 30 credits)
      • Pick up laptop in 27 Corrigan Hall
      • Confirm financial aid package and tuition, available on Pirate Net
      • Review SHU academic calendar
      • Review course information on Canvas, acquiring the materials needed for each course
      • Submit initial tuition payment
      • Set initial appts with any needed support student services as part of success plan (Tutoring Center, Writing Center, DSS, Counseling Center etc.)
